Back from Cuba and Happy Birthday Jack

We are in the Cancun, Mexico airport on our way to Lima, Peru.  Cuba is really unexplainable.  At breakfast this morning at the Courtyard Marriott, I was overwhelmed and emotional seeing the variety of food available at the simple buffet breakfast.  Pastries, juices, dry cereal, all kinds of fresh fruit, 4 types of yogurt, etc.  And then again at the airport: soap, cosmetics, electronics, full shelves of everything you could want.  Even with money, these things were not available there.

A combination of dictatorship and the US embargo are obvious and devastating.  And today the first US commercial flight has landed in Cuba after more than 50 years.
